Positive Impact in the Newburgh Community

Let’s take a moment to think about what we’re doing here.
When I was walking down Liberty Street near Broadway last night around dusk, I saw something truly beautiful. I saw the intersection of history, art, architecture, culture, and community. There is something special happening here in Newburgh right now.
I found myself wondering: how can I help make this community a better place, and what does it mean to do the right thing here with my life? In a time when the world feels so troubled, I want to make things better. So many of us seem to be feeling the weight of violence, financial stress, and difficulties of all sorts right now, and so much seems out of our hands. Here in Newburgh, though, we can make things better in the community.
I’m not a billionaire or a senator. When I think about what I can do to make things better, it makes sense to me to act locally.
When I think about what it means to do the right thing, I don’t think it matters if you’re a Christian or an atheist, a Buddhist or a skeptic. It’s about caring for other people and for ourselves, helping to inspire people to do things well, and making a small dent in the world that’s beneficial.
Newburgh is brewing something special right now. Let’s keep it going in the right direction in whatever small ways we can.
